book arts
Transformation is variously defined as a change in external form or inner nature; a change in potential; and change of one form of energy to another.
A focus on the transformative nature of art is a fluid practice that balances the inner intention of the artist as it moves outward toward the receptivity of the viewer.
The book form lends itself beautifully to such a practice because its symbolic qualities activate the psyche on many levels. For me, the book is an expansive form that can encompass the exploration of emotional, spiritual and social content. The private nature of reading allows one to have a deeply intimate experience to the story that is contained within the pages.
